Nope, couldn’t do it. That’s it for me daydreaming hiking the Appalachian Trail.
Coming down Blood Mountain yesterday, I tweaked my knee. I hobbled down over a mile to Mountain Crossing and took a couple ibuprofen. It took every ounce of effort to hike the next two miles to camp.
I took more pain relief before bed. I slept well, and felt ok this morning, but the downhills just killed my knee. And, I had my very first fall. it had been raining and lost grip walking down a rock face. Three more miles to the next gap, I knew I’m done.
Sorry to let everyone down. So disappointed that I couldn’t do this. I’m done trying long haul hiking and once my knee is better, I’ll stick to shorter hikes in Ontario.
Thanks for all the encouragement and support.
You persevered and kept trying when most people would have given up after the first time. You walked further than the rest of us and allowed us to share in the journey. Thank you for sharing.

You’re determination is remarkable. It’s better to stop and heal than to try to keep going if your heart and body can’t make it.
And as a benefit, we now know the good places to eat in Dahlonega. 🙂

Hi Nina, sorry to hear the news, but don’t think you let everyone down. You tried what most of us would not even attempt and that’s something to be proud off. Hoppy.
